Lovell to build new Meggeson Avenue homes
Building company Lovell has been selected to build more than 200 new energy efficient homes across three sites, including at 222-252 Meggeson Avenue in Townhill Park, as part of the Council's estates regeneration programme.
“Southampton City Council is investing to improve the quality of its tenants’ lives and the appointment of Lovell and First Wessex demonstrates our commitment to move ahead with plans to give tenants safe and secure homes where they will want to live now and in the future," said Cllr Peter Baillie, Cabinet Member for Housing and Bitterne Park ward councillor.
“Our aim is to transform the economic, social, health and educational prospects of our residents and Estate Regeneration is a vital component.”
“These developments will include energy efficient homes and vibrant modern local shopping. In addition to bricks and mortar, they will also provide opportunities for local jobs for local people.”
Chris Morris, Chair of the Federation of Southampton Tenants and Residents Associations said:
“Having been involved from the start of this process, Southampton City Council have done an excellent job; they have involved tenants and have listened to what tenants wanted. All theses sites are going to transform the areas and peoples lives for the better. I am looking forward to seeing the end result and see people moving in.”
