“By completing this survey, you will help us understand how you would want to move about the city, access sustainable transport options and give support to other hub features that could benefit your local community,” says SCC in its preamble.
“A travel hub (also referred to as a mobility hub) is a broad term for places that bring together sustainable travel modes alongside improvements to the public spaces,” continues the council.
“These modes vary and may include options such as bicycle or scooter hire, secure parking and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, alongside other facilities such as parcel/delivery pick up sites (like Amazon lockers), electronic wayfinding and information podiums.”
The survey suggests the section of St Denys Road that is currently closed to most motor vehicles by Trago Lounge and the row of new shops where Portswood Cycles used to be as the possible location.
As reported, a proposed park and transport hub at Lances Hill in Bitterne was shelved last year because some residents feared it would “create chaos”.
There’s some more information at the start of the survey, which is here. It’s unclear when it closes.
