It had been thought that, following a court hearing on July 17, an eviction would swiftly follow, and the council had been waiting for the court to advise on dates. But how the additional vehicles now affect the legal position seems unclear.
Ward councillor Tony Bunday (Lab) told bitternepark.info: "I am trying to get some clarification around the legal position and whether the existing – yet to be enacted – eviction order will cover the new arrivals."
Meanwhile there have been no updates on the council's web page regarding the site since July 11.
Update 26/7/23 The latest count is said to be nearly 20 caravans plus associated vehicles on the site since yesterday's additions, and the council is thought to be waiting for the court to advise on an eviction date, which is likely to apply to all those on the site regardless of arrival date.
