For those unfamiliar with race protocols, hundreds of numbered plastic ducks are released simultaneously, and ticket holders bearing the numbers of the first 20 ducks to finish win prizes.
The event, usually attended by hundreds of spectators, takes place on the summer bank holiday – this year Monday, August 26.
“Goods, services, vouchers or whatever you have to offer will be welcomed, as the success of the race is not only to provide a couple of hours of fun at the end of the summer holidays, but also to raise valuable funds for use where they are most needed in the local community,” said Eastleigh Lions Club’s Dave Bowring.
He added that the ducks have been checked over from last year and all 2500 will be available to race again this year.
“The tickets are being printed and we expect to be at the Woodmill end of the stretch between Mansbridge and Woodmill on weekends during August (weather permitting) to provide tickets for this great fun event,” added Bowring.
