Researcher seeks relatives of Bitterne Park war casualty

world war 2 WW2 title CU 20240822 155126A researcher from the Netherlands is seeking information about the relatives of Flying Officer Reginald Percy Worthy, an RAF pilot from Bitterne Park who was shot down during World War II.

Reginald Worthy was the pilot of a No. 49 Squadron bomber which was downed over the Netherlands by a Luftwaffe night-fighter during a mission over Nazi Germany in April 1942.

His name is commemorated on a glass panel near the Cenotaph in Watts Park, Southampton.

He left behind a widow, Elsie, and it's understood they also had a son.
