The airline was quoted by the Daily Echo as saying it was contacting affected customers with options to book alternative flights or refunds.
Its BA CityFlyer brand currently files from Southampton to five popular European holiday destinations.
The news comes shortly after flight restrictions were relaxed at BA CityFlyer’s main hub London City Airport, reported Eastleigh News (EN).
EN also noted that, while the runway extension was hailed as a driver for jobs, out-of-work benefit claims are up 25% in Eastleigh since its unveiling. EasyJet is however launching a seventh flight from Southampton, to Amsterdam.
The airport told the Echo CityFlyer’s move was “disappointing” but that it was always discussing new services, including backfilling the withdrawn routes.
The story was also picked up by outlets including the BBC and The Sun.
