Presented by The United Voice of African Association (TUVAA), the city council says this year’s festival is likely to be bigger and better than ever.
Says the press release:
“The BBAM Festival is more than just a celebration; it's a platform for economic empowerment, community building, education, and inclusion. By highlighting Black businesses, artists, and musicians, the festival aims to boost the local economy, foster a sense of belonging, and break down stereotypes.
“This year, attendees will have the opportunity to explore specially created prototype villages representing various African and Caribbean countries. Using a BBAM Passport, visitors can journey through these vibrant cultural hubs, discovering the beauty, fashion, and traditions of each nation.
“In addition to the immersive village experience, the festival will feature live African and Caribbean music and dance, poetry readings, Ethiopian coffee demonstrations, art exhibitions, film screenings, a cultural marketplace, and a children's fair.”
It takes place on Saturday, September 28 at the O2 Guildhall and in Guildhall Square from 11am - and coincides with Music in the City also happing around Southampton. More info on BBAM here.
