From November 15 to January 5, up to five people can travel all day on Bluestar, Unilink, and First Solent’s X4 and X5 services within Southampton for £5, with no time restrictions.
The offer proved a success over the summer, with nearly 26,000 tickets sold, saving families and friends about £90,000.
Supported by the Department for Transport’s Bus Service Improvement Plan Plus, this initiative aims to make group bus travel more affordable and sustainable during the holidays.
The council said the scheme, alongside the £1 evening fare and national £2 single fare cap, encourages sustainable travel while helping ease festive costs.
First Solent’s James Eustace said: “We’re delighted to support Southampton City Council's 5 for £5 Christmas offer.”
Andrew Wickham of Bluestar added: “It gives local people added incentive to leave their cars at home and travel with friends or family by bus to enjoy all the festivities.”
