‘Starts at Home Day’ is a national celebration of the value of care and support services and the difference that having a safe and secure place to call home can make to people’s lives.

It is an opportunity for sheltered housing providers such as Abbeyfield Living Society (ALS), which manages Abbeyfield House, to raise awareness of what they do, and build political support.

ALS is a national charity and part of the Abbeyfield movement that provide housing, care, and support for thousands of older people worldwide.

Following a tour of the facilities the MP met with some of the house’s residents to find out how living there has enriched their lives, and discussed with staff how the house supports the residents day-to-day.

For more about the visit, the benefits of services offered by providers such as ALS and the challenges faced, you can read Abbeyfield’s full story in their own words on their website.
