Southampton City Council (SCC) figures for January 27–31 show a 42% drop in vehicles on Portswood Broadway and rises of 27% in cyclists and 20% in pedestrians during bus gate hours.
The council published the data via its Portswood Project page as part of its monitoring programme.
SCC said in response to concerns, parking on Brookvale Road near Highfield Lane has been adjusted to ease congestion and improve safety, with an independent road safety audit planned at the junction of Brookvale Road and Blenheim Avenue after half-term.
The trial will run for at least six months.
SCC previously said it had started enforcing restrictions, which operate during peak hours only, on the bus gate area since February 10, with warning letters and Penalty Charge Notices.
