midanburylanejunction.com – the website campaigning for greater safety measures at the junction of Midanbury Lane and Cobden Avenue – reports a further accident at the blackspot on October 17, bringing the total to five since July. “According to a policeman, a car came over the brow of the hill early this morning and crashed into the back of another vehicle. There were four police cars and ambulances at the scene when first I saw them at 7.45,” says the site.
The site’s accident log web page is here.
The campaign is also highlighting the news that around half of all drivers break the 30 mph limit as they speed through the junction. A traffic survey, which was conducted by Southampton City Council for 12 days from September 8, also found that around 2% of vehicles exceeded 41 mph, while five cars were travelling in excess of 61 mph!
