Southampton City Council has published a video and more information on its website to make it easier to understand its budget proposals and participate in its consultation exercise, which is now live.
The council says it has to find £1.4 million to balance its budget in 2014/15.

Councillor Stephen Barnes-Andrews, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources said: "Residents are at the heart of what we do so we have responded to feedback on last year's budget consultation process by producing information that is quicker and easier to understand to encourage more residents to get involved and share their views and ideas."
"We know that many of our residents are pushed for time, but I am urging anyone with a few minutes to spare to get onto our website to find out more about the budget proposals and complete the short survey."
"We have carefully considered the impacts of our proposals and remain committed to protecting front line services and vulnerable people. It's now over to residents to tell us what they think and share their ideas about how else we might be able to find savings. I hope that as many residents as possible will make the most of this opportunity to get involved before we set the budget in February."
