
He says that, as a local resident, he shares the concerns of locals who have contacted him about the issue: "Although there are some modern blocks of flats in Whitworth Crescent, it remains largely composed of family housing. The plan to add 11 flats would substantially change the character of the area and the design submitted is completely unsympathetic to the surrounding homes. I believe that this application should be rejected and that the Council should consider whether some special protection should be offered to the Whitworth Crescent area."
Bitterne Park's ward councillors have also opposed the plan.
