Man makes off with thousands outside Bitterne supermarket

police car signPolice say a man fled with thousands of pounds after struggling with the driver of a cash van outside Sainsbury's supermarket in Bitterne.

Police were called to Bitterne precinct on Wednesday Tuesday morning (Dec 29) after the driver was approached by an offender who demanded a box containing the cash.

He then fled in a blue BMW, which was later recovered.

The driver of the van wasn't injured.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the robbery or the car: call DC Jonathan Matthews at Southampton CID on 101, quoting 44150456459, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
