The deadline for nominating sites is fast approaching and residents have until Sunday April 22 to put forward their suggestions. Everyone who nominates will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win Ł100 worth of PC World vouchers.
The Hantsweb Awards, which are now in their fifth year, recognise and reward the best websites from organisations based in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Anyone can nominate, and the awards are open to almost everyone, from businesses and schools to special interest and voluntary groups. The one thing they must have in common is an excellent website that is simple to use and delivers exactly what the user is looking for. This year the Hantsweb Awards are in association with Axon.
There are 11 categories ranging from the ‘Best Rural Enterprise Website’ to the ‘Best Young Persons’ Website’. There's also a category for, ahem, 'Best Local Area' website. Residents can also nominate sites for more than one category if it is appropriate. A panel of judges will select the finalists and overall winners.
Hampshire County Council’s e-Government Champion, Councillor Rod Baulk, said: “Websites can provide people with anything from vital information about local services to a place where they can chat about hobbies and interests. Whatever the reason I would urge everyone to nominate a local website if they know of one they think deserves some recognition.”

The Hantsweb Awards are organised by Hampshire County Council with sponsorship from: Axon (platinum sponsor), Dell (gold sponsor), Wave 105, Southern Daily Echo, ESRI, EPI-USE, Hedra, Microsoft, Lagan, SAP, Citrix, Progenit and Start.
