The current head, Susan Trigger, has been confirmed as Executive Headteacher.
Governors say in their letter she “is very much looking forward to a new challenge within the Bitterne Park Teaching School and Alliance, Southampton Riverside Federation [which also includes Townhill Junior School] and future Multi-Academy Trust [MAT] model.”
A MAT is an organisation set up to be accountable for a group of academy schools – schools which are funded directly by the government and outside of local authority control.
While there are already various academies, and academy groups, within the city – Saint George Catholic College is currently consulting with stakeholders about converting for example – Bitterne Park School is still currently maintained by the local authority, Southampton City Council.
The school didn’t respond to a request for comment about staff changes.
