Organised by local residents, it will feature stalls, local acoustic musicians and singers, promotions by various Triangle traders, cycle rides, a chance to share your ideas for improving the Triangle, and a “DIY community picnic” from 3pm in Riverside Park.
"This is a great chance to celebrate the Triangle and our community in Bitterne Park,” said organiser Liz Batten.
“There will be fun activities and also a chance to talk about our hopes, wishes and dreams for the Triangle - how could we make it a more pleasant place for all of us. This will be fed back to the Council."
Stalls and activities are likely to include face painting, arts and crafts and a quiz, while cycle shop RideRide will be offering a bike doctor service outside their shop (12-5pm). There will be a children’s activity at Darn It & Stitch, the Songbird will be providing music and glitter tattoos, and the Indian takeaway will also be hosting a stall.
Big Bike Revival will also be putting on Riverside Park bike rides from at 2pm from the ramp by Cobden Bridge.
You can learn about, and take part in, Clean Air Week, and there’s a plant sale at 5pm.
A small section of road, from the funeral directors to the end of what was Advanced Plastics only, will be closed from 11am until 10pm, so it will also be interesting to see what the Triangle could feel like if this ever becomes permanent.
You can view/download the TriFest leaflet from bitternepark.info here (pdf).
• If you're planning on driving to the event, bear in mind that on-street parking is very limited, and in many places restricted to one hour. There is a free car park about five minutes' walk away behind the social club off Manor Farm Road,(SO18 1NQ) by the miniature railway at Riverside Park, and others further along Manor Farm Road behind the park. There are very frequent number 7 buses straight to the Triangle, St Denys and Bitterne stations are both about a ten minute walk away, and there are some places to lock bikes (and possibly to moor boats!).
