The Council has restored two-way traffic on Manor Farm Road following concerns about reduced trade, pedestrian safety and inconvenience for motorists.
The Council says that it has changed traffic priority in the area following consultation with local businesses.
“Shortly after the works began, businesses told us they had concerns that the work was having a detrimental impact on business, mainly because of the one-way restriction in Manor Farm Road. We have taken these concerns on board and have changed the approach we are taking in this area.”
The Council says the changes, which include moving and introducing traffic signals, are now being monitored to make sure they are working satisfactorily.
“After years of minimal investment we are putting substantial resources and investment into the highways, which unfortunately causes some disruption, which we are sorry about,” said Cllr Dick.
“We know that road works can cause some inconvenience for motorists and businesses and always do everything we can to minimise disruption.”
further work on gas pipes is also taking place currently in Bond Road, causing some delays
