Young singing group seeks recruits

New voices are being sought to harmonise with Southampton Young Singers (SYS), who are based at Bitterne Park School in Copsewood Road.  The group, for young people aged between 9 and 14-years-old, is preparing for a musical extravaganza in 2006.

The young singers are one of three choirs founded by Southampton Music Service to support the city`s already flourishing Southampton Youth Choir.

Next May, Ready Steady Sing for children aged five to nine-years-old will team up with the two SYS groups from the east and west of the city and with the Southampton Youth Choir to perform in their first Pyramid Choirs Concert at the Turner Sims.

There`s no need to audition - anyone who is interested in joining can come along to the SYS invitation event on November 2 or call Christine Ward, Senior Manger with Southampton Music Service, on  8083 4451.

SYS meet at Bitterne Park School between 4pm and 5.30pm every Wednesday during the school term.
